Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. The devastating Category 5 storm left thousands homeless, power lines down, cable lines cut, industry impacted, and many still reeling from the economic fallout. Was it a case of déjà vu when a mere fortnight prior, at the eighth staging of Design Week, a highly respected cabal of speakers delivered compelling reasons as to why: Designing For An Uncertain Future; and Designing for Generations, From Foundation To Future and Water Resources were imperatives in today's world of climate change?

Those who prior to Melissa feigned indifference to global warming and its impact on small island developing states witnessed first-hand, and indeed continue to witness, the painful rebuild of our beloved Rock.
